From what I can tell, this 1970 take was also used somehow (it was "edited onto Take 8 of 'One Night Stand'" to quote the book), but the finished song seems based mostly around the Take 8 from December 1968.

What's strange - and something I had forgotten - is that after the track sat around for a year and a half, there was another recording session on July 5, 1970, where they apparently recorded a new Take 1 under the Summer '68 title. The ones on the 16th were especially extensive: piano, acoustic guitar, brass, Mellotron, harmonium. This was Take 8, with overdubs then added on December 9, 10 and 16.
